DLak

DLak is a central bank digital currency proof-of-concept built for the Bank of the Lao PDR, launched in February 2023 with support from JICA and Japan's METI.

Context

The project targeted financial inclusion for unbanked populations and lower-cost cross-border remittances, two of the most pressing financial challenges in the Lao PDR. The wallet was built from the shared design and engineering foundation Soramitsu developed across its CBDC portfolio, themed and adapted for the Lao context.

As with the rest of the portfolio, my role was making sure the product maintained design and UX quality, brand coherence, and clear visual communications, from the wallet itself to the materials presented to the central bank and international partners.
