A CBDC pilot for the Central Bank of Solomon Islands
Bokolo Cash is a central bank digital currency proof-of-concept built for the Central Bank of Solomon Islands, launched in November 2023 and named after traditional shell currency.
Context
The pilot tested domestic payments in Honiara and simulated international remittances using the SORA network bridge and Fearless Wallet, a rare case of Soramitsu's DeFi and CBDC product lines working together in one deployment.
The wallet was built from the shared design and engineering foundation developed across the CBDC portfolio, with a visual identity rooted in the Solomon Islands' own monetary heritage. My role was design leadership and oversight: UX quality, brand coherence, and the visual communications around the launch.
